MANAGING EDITOR OF CONTENT - THE PROFILE - MASON HIGH SCHOOL
NEWS WRITING & REPORTING
SOCIAL MEDIA
I've never been one to use social media extensively for my own personal use, but at the end of my junior year, I began to see the potential social media had regarding the Profile. I began to realize that social media is a powerful tool that our publication wasn't fully utilizing. In February of my junior year, I created a personal Twitter account so I would be able to identify what audiences use Twitter and so I could identify what our readers would want from the Profile's account.
I started planning and brainstorming new ways to use social media with my fellow staff members. It had always been the adviser who ran the social media accounts, but this year, my fellow managing editor and I were able to appoint a Promotions Manager to take over these responsibilities.
Below are some of the goals I helped create last year regarding the Profile's social media presence. Prior to this year, none of these ideas had been implemented, and I'm proud to say all but one have been put into practice this year!

Through implementing these goals into the Profile's social media, students who use Twitter and Instagram are able to interact with the newspaper in a variety of new ways. This growth of our social media platform was the springboard for creating the website.
