MEET ME

I'm Madison O'Connor, but my fellow newspaper staff members like to call me Maddie, OC, Madagascar, Mad-dog, and Madds (take your pick).

I'm currently a senior at Mason High School and the Managing Editor of Content for our school's newspaper, the Profile. I have been a self-proclaimed journalism nerd ("jerd") for three years now. If you're looking for me, you'll be able to find me in the journalism lab with my nose buried in my AP Stylebook.

During my time on staff, I have made significant strides as both a writer and a leader. I have grown from a shy sophomore to a senior managing editor. I currently manage a staff of 28 (double last year's staff size!) of which only 4 are returning staffers. In addition to coaching 24 new staffers, our staff gained a new adviser this year who has had no previous journalism experience. Through all of these changes, this year I was able to single-handedly create both the staff manual and the Profile Online from scratch, two accomplishments I am incredibly proud of.

In addition to being the Managing Editor of Content on my staff, I also write for the online blog Spire & Co and play tennis for the school team. I am also a National Honor Society Leader, a Youth Leader at my church, an employee at the local library, and an unapologetic member of Bachelor Nation.

I'm pretty sure my hobbies include drawing, reading, and journaling, but I can’t really remember what it’s like to have free time.
